West Springfield, Mass.,– Lockheed Martin has awarded Atlantic Fasteners’ aerospace division two contracts worth a minimum of $87,000 in total. Both run for two years.
According to president Tony Peterson, one covers 67 fasteners for a mobile radar system.
The second is for 55 parts used on a wireless, through-the-earth communications system, designed for contacting underground mines after accidents occur.
Peterson says, “Earning the Lockheed STAR award in 2008 and maintaining a nearly perfect quality rating since has helped us develop a lasting relationship with the firm.”
He said Lockheed approaches long term agreements carefully and methodically, noting that for one of contracts, the aerospace department spent several months quoting multiple times at a myriad of quantity breaks.
